I Recommend The CatEye TL-LD1100 Bike Tail Light
There are a number of great bike taillights that have come on the market recently. They are light weight and compact with more LED bulbs in order to make you even more visible on dark evening or night rides. They have these bulbs or diodes facing both backwards and sideways to let people behind you and at intersections know your there. It's this added visibility that really put this light ahead of the competition and the CatEye tl-ld1100 is one of them.
These lights are much smaller and yet have very high efficiency.
They are truly powerful lights and are setting new standards for safety every time you turn around. Not only are they bright and very visible but have become much more water resistant than ever before. That means getting caught in a rain while riding is not a problem (at least for the lights). They usually have different modes so that you can switch not only between constant and flashing but have several different flashing modes to choose from like ripple. They provide an all-round visibility that is really great for cyclists.
Today many of them run on just AA batteries yet with good batteries they will last an amazing amount of time. Some over 100 hours and replacing the batteries is usually very easy yet maintaining their water resistance is no problem.
Bikes typically are not sold with lights
yet there are few places where it is not a legal requirement to have them on your bike. There are also no general standards for bike lighting to help you. That means it's up to you to pick out the gear that you deem is suitable for how you intend on using your bike.
Using a rear light on your bike that blinks is essential for night riding safety for most people. I’ve used a rear light zip tied to my helmet for a while now and have been impressed both with its brightness and its durability. I am also impressed because it is bright enough for people to see even in daylight. This is important to me as sometimes I will use it while riding even in the daytime as it seems to help cars respect me a little more.
You do need to look for one though that has a quality housing
as some seem to have used cheap plastic and they don’t stand up to any abuse. This is important as they do receive plenty of abuse from falls or even bangs from just leaning your bike up against a post.
Another thing that is important is the mounting system. Some use a tool free system which seems great but they don’t always stay in place. I have one that just has a heavy rubber band that goes around my handle bars and it is constantly shifting with every little bump in the road. You also don’t want your light coming off and getting lost due to the clamp coming loose do you?
I have seen and used a number of different bike tail lights and the CatEye tl-ld1100 is the one I recommend.
It has only been a couple of years since they released the TL-LD1100 model which is a little larger than average with those 10 high powered LEDs.
Cateye was actually the first to develop and produce blinking taillights back in 1964.
The battery closure stays shut and it has also proven waterproof even through some bad downpours.
One thing is for sure the battery life is exceptional. After using it for a couple of years this light is still working great on the same batteries and there is no sign of it quitting yet.
